Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – May 6, 2017… A double-podium finish for BMW Team RLL in today’s IMSA Advance Auto Parts SportsCar Showdown at the Circuit of the Americas, in Austin, Texas, was a well-deserved reward for every team member who had worked so hard to regain the competitiveness of the BMW M6 GTLM this season.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – May 5, 2017… BMW Team RLL returned to the sharp end of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship field in today’s 15-minute qualifying session for Saturday’s Advance Auto SportsCar Showdown as John Edwards scored the first pole position of the season for BMW. Edwards, driving the No. 24 BMW M6 GTLM he shares with Martin Tomczyk, lapped the 3.4-mile, 20-turn Circuit of the Americas, in Austin, Texas, with a 2:02.833 minute lap to top the very close GTLM grid and record a new qualifying record. The entire field was separated by less than one second, with only two-tenths of a second between the first six cars. The pole was the 23rd of the BMW Team RLL program and the third for Edwards as a BMW Team RLL driver (Lime Rock Park, 2013; Road America, 2014).
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – May 2, 2017… A change in the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule will see BMW Team RLL race at the Circuit of the Americas, in Austin, Texas on May 6 instead of the series’ usual September date. The two-hour-and-forty-minute Advance Auto Parts SportsCar Showdown will see the team racing with renewed momentum after a strong effort at Long Beach where both BMW M6 GTLM cars showed increased competitiveness and season’s-best fourth and seventh place finishes.

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – April 3, 2017… The Long Beach, California street circuit has been the site of many BMW Team RLL successes since the team’s first season racing for BMW in 2009. The team has finished the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race, for a second consecutive year sponsored by BUBBA® burger, with at least one BMW on the podium every year except last season. The Bobby Rahal-led team has won the street race three times; once with the BMW M3 GT in 2011 and twice with the BMW Z4 GTLM, in 2013 and 2015. Last year, Bill Auberlen qualified the new M6 GTLM racer on the class pole position, but finished a disappointing fifth after multiple contact with competitors ended another podium opportunity.
SEBRING, Fla. (March 18, 2017) — In the second round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) in Sebring (USA), the number 25 BMW M6 GTLM, driven by Bill Auberlen (USA), Alexander Sims (GBR) and Kuno Wittmer (CAN), finished sixth in the GTLM class. The three BMW Team RLL drivers completed 334 laps in the 65th running of the endurance classic and delivered a flawless performance over the course of the 12-hour race. However, they couldn’t match the pace of the front-runners at a consistent level which made it impossible to score a top result in Florida. Victory was secured by the number 3 Corvette.
Sebring- Friday, March 17, 2017… In qualifying for the second round of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) in Sebring (USA), BMW Team RLL finished eighth and ninth in the GTLM class respectively. At the wheel of the number 24 BMW M6 GTLM, Nick Catsburg (NED) clocked a lap time of 1:56.617 minutes. His team-mate Alexander Sims (GBR) was just 0.043 seconds slower than the Dutchman. Pole position for the classic 12-hour race in Florida was secured by Ryan Briscoe (AUS), driving the number 67 Ford, with a best time of 1:55.939 minutes.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – March 14, 2017… The 65th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring will see a determined BMW Team RLL continue to work to increase the competitiveness of the BMW M6 GTLM racing car. Now in its second season of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition with the M6, the team has increased its effort to address issues that have kept the car from equaling its best result, a second-place finish after qualifying 1-2 one year ago at the Sebring International Raceway.
Daytona. The 19th BMW Art Car experienced an eventful race appearance at the Daytona 24 Hours, finishing eighth in the GTLM class. The opening round of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) once again offered fans excitement right down to the final lap.
