Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – April 25, 2016… BMW Team RLL is looking forward to the two-hour Continental Monterey Grand Prix, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, in Monterey, Calif., to rebound from a disappointing Round 3 race at Long Beach as the 2016 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship finishes up its two-race West Coast swing.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – April 16, 2016… BMW Team RLL had a disappointing debut of the BMW M6 GTLM at Long Beach today, finishing fifth and tenth in the Bubba Burger Sports Car Grand Prix, the third round of the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – April 15, 2016…Bill Auberlen continued his dominance of the Long Beach streets by scoring the pole position for tomorrow’s 100-minute Bubba Burger Sports Car Grand Prix At Long Beach. Driving the No. 25 BMW Team RLL M6 to a 1:17.272 minute lap around the 1.968-mile, 11-turn temporary street circuit he bested the GTLM field for the second consecutive year at Long Beach, and the second consecutive race of the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Last year Auberlen and co-driver Dirk Werner won the race. Teammate Lucas Luhr qualified the No. 100 M6 in the sixth position with a quick lap of 1.18.105 minutes. Luhr will co-drive with John Edwards in tomorrow’s race.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – April 11, 2016… BMW Team RLL has had more success at Long Beach than any other venue that has played host to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Since its inaugural season in 2009, the team has not failed to finish the race without at least one BMW on the podium at Long Beach. The Bobby Rahal-led team has won the race three times; once with the BMW M3 in 2011 and twice with the BMW Z4, in 2013 and 2015.
Sebring (US), 20th March 2016… BMW Team RLL secured the maiden podium result for the newly developed BMW M6 GTLM at the legendary 12-hour race in Sebring (US). Bill Auberlen (US), Dirk Werner (DE) and Bruno Spengler (CA) finished second in the GTLM class at round two of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC), sharing driving duties in the number 25 BMW M6 GTLM.
Sebring (US), March 18, 2016…Strong showing by BMW Team RLL in qualifying for the 12-hour race in Sebring (US): Bill Auberlen (US) secured GTLM pole position at the wheel of the number 25 BMW M6 GTLM, setting a best lap time of 1:58.402 minutes. John Edwards (US) finished just 0.190 seconds behind his team-mate and will start the second round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) from P2 in the number 100 car.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – March 14th, 2016… A strong two-day test at Sebring International Raceway at the end of February has BMW Team RLL feeling very positive about success at the 64th Annual 12 Hours of Sebring on March 19th.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – January 31, 2016… Both the new BMW M6 GTLM and the BMW M6 GT3 proved their promising potential in the very first round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship: At the classic 24 Hours of Daytona (US), the number 25 BMW M6 GTLM crossed the line in fifth in the GTLM category. Bill Auberlen (US), Dirk Werner (DE), Augusto Farfus (BR) and Bruno Spengler (CA) had alternated at the wheel over the course of their 721 race laps.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – January 31, 2016… The 7:13 a.m. sunrise over Daytona International Speedway’s third turn showed only one BMW Team RLL M6 GTLM racing car remaining in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. After a long night, the No. 25 of Bill Auberlen, Augusto Farfus, Bruno Spengler and Dirk Werner, with Farfus behind the wheel, races in the 7th position.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – January 31, 2016… With 10 hours complete in the Rolex 24 At Daytona BMW Team RLL has moved both BMW M6 GTLM racing cars to the sharp end of the GTLM field, each M6 having spent time in the lead of the race. The No. 100 M6, with John Edwards back behind the wheel, races in first place. Augusto Farfus, in the No. 25 M6 stands 7th, having dropped back from second while battling traffic. All eight drivers have either double or triple stinted in their time behind the wheel.
