I AM JAMES JAKES:
England’s James Jakes is one of the rapidly improving young stars of the IZOD IndyCar Series.
Jakes’ career began with T-cars in 2002 when the youngster from Leeds, West Yorkshire finished second in the series championship. After a stop in British Formula Renault which earned him honors as a Rising Star by the prestigious British Racing Drivers Club and his selection as a McLaren Autosport Award finalist, Jakes moved up to the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2007 and 2008, where he won the Pau Grand Prix from pole in 2008 and set the fastest race lap.
Jakes made his GP2 debut in the 2008-09 Asia Series, racing for Super Nova. He sat out most of the 2009 season, returning to the Super Nova team for the opening round of the 2009-10 Asia Series. He raced for Manor in the 2010 GP3 Series, finishing eighth in the standings, despite missing four races because of injury.
He made IZOD IndyCar Series debut in 2011 with Dale Coyne Racing and competes for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in 2013.
