MUNICH — The 2017 motor racing season will shift up a gear, when BMW Motorsport, BMW Team RLL and BMW of North America launch their 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) campaign on 28th/29th January at the classic Daytona International Speedway. At the biggest 24-hour race in North America, BMW Team RLL will have the rare honour of racing a BMW Art Car, only the ninth of the 19-car BMW Art Car Collection to race since the programme’s start in 1975. John Baldessari (USA), one of the world’s most respected conceptual artists, joins luminaries such as Alexander Calder (1975), Andy Warhol (1979) and Jeff Koons (2010) as an Art Car creator.
BROWNSBURG, Ind. and HILLIARD, Ohio (December 14, 2016) – Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that TranSystems Corporation, a consulting firm that provides engineering and architecture solutions to the transportation marketplace, has renewed their role as an “Official Team Partner” for the team’s sports car and Indy car programs as well as an associate sponsor of the No. 15 Indy car driven by Graham Rahal in the Verizon IndyCar Series in a multi-year agreement. TranSystems Inc. has been a sponsor of the team since 2013.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (December 6, 2016) – Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that Oriol Servia will return to the team for the 2017 Indianapolis 500 with the hope of adding more races during the season. Servia competed for the team in the Indy 500 in 2009, the Indy 500 and three other races in 2014, the Indy 500 in 2015 and will return for the 101th Running of the Indy 500 on May 28, 2017.
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (December 6, 2016) – Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that respected engineer Tom German has joined the team as an engineering consultant in a multi-year deal. In addition to other notable successes, German has participated in three Indy car championships and one in the NASCAR Nationwide series while with Penske Racing as well as five Indy 500 wins, most recently as 2016 winner Alexander Rossi’s race engineer.
Miami Beach, FL – November 30th, 2016…On November 30, the VIP Preview day of this year’s edition of Art Basel in Miami Beach, the BMW Art Car by John Baldessari celebrated its world premiere. The 19th vehicle of the BMW Art Car Collection was designed by the American master of conceptual art and revealed in the presence of the artist himself, Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America, and Jens Marquardt, Director BMW Motorsport, at an exclusive reception at the Botanical Garden of Miami Beach. John Baldessari’s BMW M6 GTLM, a race car featuring 585 hp, will be on public display until the closing of Art Basel. Following the 40-year tradition of BMW Art Cars, John Baldessari’s “rolling sculpture” will then prove itself on the race track of Rolex 24 at DAYTONA on January 28 and 29, 2017.

(November 16, 2016) – Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that United Rentals Inc., the largest equipment rental company in the world, has extended their agreement with the team with a new multi-year agreement. United Rentals will be again be the primary sponsor for the No. 15 Verizon IndyCar Series entry of Graham Rahal in the Chevrolet Duals in Detroit, June 3 and 4, and has added primary sponsorship of the No. 15 entry at Phoenix International Raceway on April 29. The agreement also calls for United Rentals to be a major associate sponsor on the team’s entry for Rahal during the 2017-2018 seasons and continue on as the Official Equipment Partner of the Verizon IndyCar Series.
Road Atlanta (US), 1st October 2016. In the final race of the all-new BMW M6 GTLM’s debut season at Road Atlanta (US), BMW Team RLL missed another top result in the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) due to technical issues.
Road Atlanta (US), 30th September 2016. In the final qualifying session of the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the GTLM field proved to be as fiercely-fought as ever: All cars finished within 0.8 seconds at Road Atlanta (US). Driving the number 100 BMW M6 GTLM, John Edwards (US) set the sixth-fastest time in class with a time of 1:18.382 minutes. He was just 0.251 seconds slower than Ford’s Richard Westbrook (GB) who secured pole position.
