Road Atlanta. BMW Team RLL celebrated its fourth GTLM victory of the year at the season finale of the 2017 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) at Road Atlanta (USA). At the classic Petit Le Mans, the number 25 BMW M6 GTLM with Bill Auberlen (USA), Alexander Sims (GBR) and Kuno Wittmer (CAN) at the wheel won with a 1.060 second margin-of-victory over the second-placed Corvette, completing 392 laps of the 2.54-mile road course in the 10-hour contest. It was the first victory for BMW Team RLL at this event – and a very special triumph for Auberlen in his 400th race for BMW. Martin Tomczyk (GER), John Edwards (USA) and Nick Catsburg (NED) had to retire the number 24 BMW M6 GTLM with less than one hour to go.

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – Sept. 24, 2017… If the color black is the combination of all colors, today’s America’s Tire 250 race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was a combination of every emotion for John Edwards and Martin Tomczyk during their thrilling run to victory in the black-liveried No. 24 BMW M6 GTLM. The duo completed 110 laps of the 2.238-mile, 11-turn Laguna Seca circuit during the two-hour-and-forty-minute contest that saw their BMW off in the sand in turn one on the opening lap to a scant 0.152 second margin of victory at the checkered flag after the final stint of the race was run with a maximum fuel saving strategy. The win was the first for Edwards and Tomczyk as co-drivers and the 16th for BMW Team RLL since beginning in 2009.

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – Aug. 27, 2017… BMW Team RLL’s fourth and ninth place finishes in today’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Michelin GT Challenge at VIR are far different than the first 85 laps of the 93 completed would have predicted. A left front tire puncture with eight laps remaining forced the No. 25 M6 GTLM of Bill Auberlen and Alexander Sims into the pits after controlling the majority of the two-hour-and-forty-minute race and, ultimately, a disappointing fourth place finish. After a strong start, two technical issues with the No. 24 M6, of John Edwards and Martin Tomczyk, only allowed a total of 72 laps to be completed and a ninth place finish.

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – July 21, 2017… It was a bit of a good news-bad news situation for BMW Team RLL in today’s qualifying session for tomorrow’s Northeast Grand Prix, at Lime Rock Park, in Lakeville, Conn. The shortest track the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship visits can magnify any performance issues and the compressed two-day schedule minimizes the available tuning time. At the end of the 15-minute session the entire GTLM field qualified within a scant 0.535 seconds with John Edwards, driving the No. 24 BMW M6 in fourth (50.68 seconds), and Bill Auberlen eighth in the No. 25 M6 (50.94 seconds). The pole went to the No. 912 Porsche with a 50.40 seconds lap.
