Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – April 7th, 2014 … BMW Team RLL arrives at the Sports Car Showcase At Long Beach leading both the 2014 Tudor United SportsCar Championship GTLM Team and Driver standings after podium finishes at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. A second place finish at Daytona was followed by a third at Sebring for the No. 55 BMW Z4 to lead the team standings. Drivers Bill Auberlen and Andy Priaulx share the lead in driver points.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – March 14, 2014 … The intense competition the GTLM class demonstrated during the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January definitely increased in today’s qualifying session for the 62nd annual 12 Hours of Sebring. The top-seven cars of the 11-car class qualified within one second. The top three spots were even closer, seemingly only the blink of an eye covering the pole winning Porsche and the two BMW Team RLL Z4 machines.
Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – March 12, 2014 … After five years of beginning its season at the Twelve Hours of Sebring, BMW Team RLL arrives ready for the 62nd annual event with something it has never had before – momentum from a prior race. The new TUDOR United SportsCar Championship that has merged the GRAND-AM and ALMS series began with the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January. BMW Team RLL finished second and fourth — the only team in the GTLM class to finish both team cars in the top-five.
Daytona (US), 26th January 2014. BMW Motorsport and BMW Team RLL experienced a successful start to the United SportsCar Championship (USCC), securing an impressive podium result in what was the start of a new era in American motor racing. The number 55 BMW Z4 GTLM crossed the line second in the GTLM at the 24-hour race of Daytona (US), after completing a total of 679 laps of the iconic “Daytona International Speedway” road course. Bill Auberlen (US), Andy Priaulx (GB), Joey Hand (US) and Maxime Martin (BE) struggled to match the pace of their direct opposition on the long straights, due to the significant top speed deficit of their BMW Z4 GTLM. However, BMW Team RLL made up for this thanks to a great strategy, consistent lap times and a largely flawless performance by the crew, securing its maiden USCC podium in the process. GTLM victory in the American endurance classic was secured by Porsche’s Nick Tandy (GB), Richard Lietz (AT) and Patrick Pilet (FR). At the finish line, final stint drivers Hand and Pilet were separated by only 2.838 seconds.
Daytona (US), 26th January 2014. The 24-hour race of Daytona (US) enters the finishing straight: After three quarters of the United SportsCar Championship’s (USCC) season opener, BMW Team RLL and its BMW Z4 GTLM cars were able to consolidate its positions among the top-five of the GTLM field.
Daytona (US), 25th January 2014. The 24-hour race of Daytona (US) is on: The number 56 BMW Z4 GTLM, driven by Dirk Müller (DE), John Edwards (US), Dirk Werner (DE) and Graham Rahal (US) is running sixth in the GTLM category after six hours. Bill Auberlen (US), Andy Priaulx (GB), Joey Hand (US) and Maxime Martin (BE) hold seventh place in the opener of the maiden United SportsCar Championship (USCC) season. At 2:47 hours into the race the endurance classic had to be red-flagged for more than an hour following a serious accident between Ferrari’s Matteo Malucelli (IT) and Corvette driver Memo Gidley (US). At the wheel of his Daytona prototype, Gidley hit Malucelli’s car, which was running slowly on the outside line, at high speed. Both drivers were transported to the nearby Halifax Health Medical Center. In the GTD category, BMW works driver Augusto Farfus (BR) is ranked 21st along with his fellow Turner Motorsport drivers Paul Dalla Lana (CA), Dane Cameron (US) and Markus Palttala (FI) in the BMW Z4 GTD. A collision early in the race had cost the yellow number 94 car several places. Meanwhile, the drivers are racing in the dark at the “Daytona International Speedway”. Martin is currently on duty at the wheel of the number 55 BMW Z4 GTLM, while Werner is driving the number 56 car.

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – Oct. 18, 2013 … Dirk Müller qualified the No. 56 BMW Team RLL Z4 GTE fifth for tomorrow’s 1000-mile Petit Le Mans, the final race of the season and the American Le Mans Series. His quick lap, 1:19.23 minutes, around the 2.54-mile Road Atlanta track came on his fifth circuit of the 15-minute qualifying session. Müller, who will be racing for the GT driver’s title this weekend, will share the No. 56 machine with Bill Auberlen and John Edwards.
The No. 55 Z4 GTE was qualified ninth by Jörg Müller with a 1:19.95 minute lap. He will share the car with Maxime Martin and Uwe Alzen.
Tomorrow’s Petit Le Mans marks the final race of the successful debut season for the BMW Z4 GTE. Both cars reached the top of the podium, the No. 55 machine winning at Long Beach and the No. 56 car at Lime Rock Park. The team has also scored four additional podiums, four pole positions, and eight top-5 finishes.
Dirk Müller, driver No. 56 Z4 GTE – (5th) – “It was a solid effort. I’m feeling extremely comfortable in the car. I had three good laps, all 100% with no mistakes. Our focus is the race and I know we are ready.”
Jörg Müller, driver No. 55 Z4 GTE – (9th) – “I’m very disappointed with my qualifying. I had a very comfortable gap, but when I caught up to one competitor he blocked me and I lost time. The same thing happened a second time and I was no longer in the sweet spot of the Michelins. The lap time shown on the scoring sheet is definitely less than the car is capable of.”
