Rahal Finished Eighth in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach to Earn a Top-10 Points Rank; Foster and Schumacher Finished 16th and 17th

Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach

Round 5 of 18 in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES

    RACE NOTES / QUOTES – Sunday, April 19, 2026

Rahal Finished Eighth in the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach to Earn a Top-10 Points Rank; Foster and Schumacher Finished 16th and 17th

GRAHAM RAHAL, No. 15 One Cure Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “The team just did a wonderful job today in the pits and that’s what made our race frankly. For me on a personal level, I felt like I struggled a little bit with the front of the car on two stints and the rear on the last stint but, overall, sadly it was one of those fuel save races that wasn’t that exciting for the fans. It was all done in pit lane and luckily our guys did a wonderful job there.”

FAST FACTS: Started 10th and finished eighth after a two-stop strategy to move to a 10th place rank in the series point standings with 106. His best IndyCar start here is fifth in 2007 and best finish is second place in 2013. Has SIX IndyCar Series wins (2008 – St. Pete street course; 2015 – Fontana Super Speedway, Mid-Ohio road course; 2016 – Texas Super Speedway; 2017 Detroit Race 1, Detroit Race 2) and FIVE poles (2009 – St. Pete street course, Kansas oval; 2017 – Detroit Race 1 street; 2024 IMS road course 2, Portland) and his highest series season-ending standing is fourth place in 2015. He finished third in the previous race in Barber.

LOUIS FOSTER, No. 45 Desnuda Tequila Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “It was a decent race. We had a good first couple of stints and when the yellow came out we had a great pit stop to get us up into P10 but unfortunately, we just need to figure out something with the damping of the car to make the tires last longer for us. We fell off a cliff with 15 laps to go and went from a very good result to a very average result. It’s a shame because it would have probably been our best finish in INDYCAR on the cards today, but it just didn’t fall our way.”

FAST FACTS: Started 17th, was up to 10th when he started struggling with tire wear and dropped back to ultimately finish 16th. The team changed the hybrid component on his engine after Practice 2. Although he has been racing in the US for years, Foster will compete in only his second race in Long Beach this year. In his debut at the track last year, he started 20th and finished 16th. The Los Angeles area is one of his favorite places to visit in the US after having lived there while attending college. His highest start of the season so far is ninth place on the streets of St. Pete, which is also the team’s best start on a street course this year, and Foster is hoping to build upon that.

MICK SCHUMACHER, No. 47 Liquid Death Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “It was definitely a steep learning curve there for us. I think on that last set, we just ended up using up the tires a little too much which ended up making our life quite hard. I probably got a couple of overtakes on me that weren’t necessary. Overall, it was a good race coming from no free practice on Friday and limited running on Saturday. I think we made the best out of it. I’m really happy about Liquid Death being onboard and trying to get their car around quick in Long Beach. I’m looking forward to the month of May now and to the Indy road course that I have tested on before. Hopefully we’ll have a good race there.”

FAST FACTS: Started 21st and finished 17th in Long Beach. On Friday, after only two laps, Schumacher’s car came to a stop after the fountain area in the first practice session. The team changed the engine late Friday. He found the limit of the car in approximately the same location on Saturday. The team repaired the left front .… This will be his first time to race on the streets of Long Beach and third street race of the season. His highest start and finish this season has come on the Phoenix oval of fourth and 18th, respectively.

NEXT UP: The series will take the next two weekend’s off before returning to action at the Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, May 8-9.

Rahal Qualified 10th for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach; Foster and Schumacher 17th and 21st

Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach
Round 5 of 18 in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES
    QUALIFYING NOTES / QUOTES – Saturday, April 18, 2026

Rahal Qualified 10th for the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach; Foster and Schumacher to Start 17th and 21st

    1) Felix Rosenqvist 1:07.4635 / 105.017 mph (Group 1; Round 3)
    10) Graham Rahal 1:07.6619 / 104.709 mph (Group 2; Round 2)
    17) Louis Foster 1:07.9024 / 104.338 mph (Group 1; Round 1)
    21) Mick Schumacher 1:08.2471 / 103.811 mph (Group 1; Round 1)

GRAHAM RAHAL, No. 15 One Cure Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “I thought everybody did a great job putting our qualifying together. I didn’t quite put it all together in round two; I did my best lap on the second lap versus the third and on the third, the tires just went over a little bit and I started to lose the rears. I do feel better about the race car than the qualifying car so we’ll see what tomorrow brings. We have a couple of sets of new alternate tires and couple of sets of new primary tires so we have good tires overall although I think it will be the same for everybody so we’ll see how strategy plays out.” •FAST FACTS: Will start 10th for his 19th Champ/Indy car race here and 20th overall. His best IndyCar start here is fifth in 2007 and best finish is second place in 2013. In 2025, he started 16th and finished 22nd. On his second of three pit stops, there was a false read on the fuel level and he returned to the track four gallons short of the intended fuel amount. In 2024, he started 12th and pit from fifth place on an alternate strategy for his second stop and a fueling issue added an additional 12 seconds, which dropped him four spots at the time and cost valuable track position. A top-10 finish was in sight, but he had to settle for 17th place. In 2023, he started 24th and finished 12th and in 2022, he started 13th and finished seventh. He ran as high as second place two times in 2021 and led four laps by utilizing an alternate strategy after starting 19th but the timing of a caution for contact between teammate Askew and Daly while he was on his in-lap for his final pit stop dropped him to 20th. He came back to finish 16th… Has SIX IndyCar Series wins (2008 – St. Pete street course; 2015 – Fontana Super Speedway, Mid-Ohio road course; 2016 – Texas Super Speedway; 2017 Detroit Race 1, Detroit Race 2) and FIVE poles (2009 – St. Pete street course, Kansas oval; 2017 – Detroit Race 1 street; 2024 IMS road course 2, Portland) and his highest series season-ending standing is fourth place in 2015. He finished third in the previous race in Barber.
LOUIS FOSTER, No. 45 Desnuda Tequila Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “We don’t have the car we need right now. I think Graham did a good job with what he had. I probably could have matched him had I ran his set up earlier. Myself and Mick both switched to his set up right before qualifying. It doesn’t really help from a perspective of consistency. Graham did a good job but still our cars just aren’t in the window overall. It’s a bit of a headscratcher. The qualifying this year has not been as good as last year and that’s something I don’t take lightly. We’re working towards fixing that. We have a good amount of tires for tomorrow at least and we have a good looking Desnuda Tequila car so hopefully that gives us more speed. We’re going to see what we can do tonight and go fast tomorrow.” •FAST FACTS: The team changed the hybrid component on his engine after Practice 2.
47 Liquid Death Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “It was not awfully easy out there with minimal driving time. I think that really hurt us in multiple ways today unfortunately. Nonetheless I think we’ve got to understand and look back at this at some point when we have a little more time. We can’t do it tonight because obviously tonight the focus us going to be more about making sure the race car is good. I think that’s what we’re focusing on now – making the right changes that work for us and we’ll hopefully be in a better place tomorrow.” •FAST FACTS: On Friday, after only two laps, Schumacher’s car came to a stop after the fountain area in the first practice session.

Rahal 2013) and earned six podiums here (2nd – Rahal 1992-1993, Vasser 2002 & G. Rahal 2013; 3rd – Herta 1998-1999).

    PRACTICE NOTES / QUOTES – Friday, April 17, 2026

Practice 1 of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach Ended with Mixed Results for Rahal, Foster and Schumacher

    1) Will Power 1:07.6053 / 104.797 mph

    14) Graham Rahal 1:08.6737 / 103.166 mph

    23) Louis Foster 1:09.2958 / 102.240 mph

    25) Mick Schumacher 1:23.3246 / 85.027 mph

GRAHAM RAHAL, No. 15 One Cure Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “It was a tough session for me. I just felt like I was never really in the hunt. On the blacks at the start, we were P11, and it wasn’t that bad; only one-tenth (of a second) separated six of us. But I felt like the car didn’t get any better after than. It didn’t feel good on the reds (Alternate tires) in particular.”

FAST FACTS: Will be his 19th Champ/Indy car race here and 20th overall. His best IndyCar start here is fifth in 2007 and best finish is second place in 2013. In 2025, he started 16th and finished 22nd. On his second of three pit stops, there was a false read on the fuel level and he returned to the track four gallons short of the intended fuel amount. He finished third in the previous race in Barber.

LOUIS FOSTER, No. 45 Desnuda Tequila Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “It was a decent session. It’s hard to tell because we didn’t really get a run on the reds (alternate tires) so it was a bit of a waste there honestly. I need to look and see where we stacked up. There is definitely (lap) time to find in the car.”

FAST FACTS: Although he has been racing in the US for years, Foster will compete in only his second race in Long Beach this year.

47 Liquid Death Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “On the first lap I told them team that something felt weird. We ran another lap and then the car just stopped. Overall, it is not ideal. I am now for sure the only one that has not driven this track and that’s not a good starting point for the weekend. I have two more sets of tires than most people would and now we’ve just got to make sure we use those in a smart way to still try to get the most out of the weekend.”

FAST FACTS: After only two laps, Schumacher’s car came to a stop after the fountain area in the first practice session. The team is changing the engine tonight… This will be his first time to race on the streets of Long Beach and third street race of the season. His highest start and finish this season has come on the Phoenix oval of fourth and 18th, respectively.

    NEWS & NOTES:

26TH INDY CAR RACE IN LONG BEACH FOR RLL
The 2026 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach (AGPLB) marks the 26th time for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) to compete in the event. Although the team didn’t compete in Indy car races here from 2004-2011 while they fielded a fulltime entry in the Indy Racing League (2004-2008), they did compete in the 2003 and 2004 Atlantic races with Danica Patrick and in the 2007 American Le Mans Series (ALMS) race. From 2009-2019, the team competed on the streets of Long Beach in the GTLM class of the ALMS/IMSA with BMW Team RLL and has finished on the podium each year but 2016-2019 although they started from pole in 2016 and led all three of those races. The venue is still the most successful for the team on the current IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule with wins in 2011, 2013 and 2015, nine podium finishes and five poles in 13 years of events here with BMW M Team RLL. The team’s new IMSA GTD PRO program – RLL Team McLaren – does not compete here.

In total, the team won three poles (Herta 1998, Vasser 2002, Jourdain, Jr. 2003); made five front row starts including an all-Team Rahal front row in 1998 (2nd – Rahal 1998, Brack 2001); earned their best finish of second place four times (Rahal 1992-1993, Vasser 2002, G. Rahal 2013) and earned six podiums (2nd – Rahal 1992-1993, Vasser 2002 & G. Rahal 2013; 3rd – Herta 1998-1999). The team has entered the No. 15 One Cure Honda for Graham Rahal, the No. 45 Desnuda Tequila Honda for Louis Foster and the No 47 Liquid Death Honda for Mick Schumacher in this year’s race.

    GRAHAM AND LONG BEACH
The 2026 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach will be Graham’s 19th Champ/Indy car race here and 20th overall. He came back to finish 16th. Other results are available on request. The team has conceptualized some ways to optimize the race car setup, and he is looking forward to getting on track to try those. His best qualifying position of the season is third in Phoenix and best finish came at the previous race in Barber with a third-place podium result. He’s hoping to carry that momentum to Long Beach.
“I’m excited to get back to Long Beach, one of the most legendary races of the year. It’s definitely a tremendous place to go race and always has been. It’s a beautiful track. I’m definitely pumped up to go back there and feel the energy from the crowd. Our street course performance has not been as good as we would like this year. We have some work to do and need to accelerate the improvements but we’ll certainly try to do that and put ourselves in a much better spot and see if we can find some performance in Long Beach to build off of our third place finish in Barber but also to carry momentum into Indy, which I think is really important.
“Jim (Michaelian) will be missed. He did it the right way all the time. The promotion and vibe behind the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach was second to none. The vibe, the energy and the notoriety that the race has had over the years is unbelievable. I just saw Jim recently, so it was such a shock to hear about his passing. We certainly appreciate everything that he did for our sport over the years. He’s absolutely a legend and may he rest in peace.”

FOSTER TO MAKE HIS SECOND START AT LONG BEACH
Although he has been racing in the US for years, Foster will compete in only his second race in Long Beach this year. In his debut at the track last year, he started 20th and finished 16th. The Los Angeles area is one of his favorite places to visit in the US after having lived there while attending college. His highest start of the season so far is ninth place on the streets of St. Pete, which is also the team’s best start on a street course this year, and Foster is hoping to build upon that.
“We had a decent car last year but had a bad qualifying session. We just messed up on very small area in qualifying last year. Basically, we just didn’t optimize the tires last year in qualifying and started further back. But it was a good race for us; we moved forward a decent amount of spots and were the top finishing team car. Graham would have finished higher, but he had an issue with one of his pit stops. We had a good race, but our Achilles heel last year was that we just didn’t get qualifying nailed. This year we’ll be going in with a bit of a different setup and trying something new and going to see if it works out for us. We tried something new in Barber, and it worked well for Graham, not so much for myself and Mick but we’re trying new things and seeing what works. That’s kind of the whole point of this year; try new things to see what works because we know last year didn’t go the way we wanted to on the whole.
“So far this year our qualifying has been a bit iffy on the 45 car which has me a bit confused because last year we were very good in qualifying and less so in the race. This year we’ve been okay in qualifying but a lot better in the race so we’ve definitely made a step forward but we just need everything to come together a little bit more. I love Long Beach; it’s a really fun track so I’m looking forward to going back there. Let’s see how this new setup goes, see how we feel come practice but with the progression that’s been happening so far, I don’t see why we should be challenging for a top-10.”

SCHUMACHER AT THE ICONIC LONG BEACH GP
The 51st running of the Long Beach Grand Prix will mark Mick’s third street race of the season and fifth series event in addition to adding his famous surname to the likes of the many legendary names that have raced here. Schumacher has travelled the world in his 27 years, but it will be his first time in the Los Angeles area and he is looking forward to the new experience.
“I’ve never been to the Los Angeles area. I will get there a bit earlier for a media tour so I will drive around the city a little bit and get to see some things. I heard the traffic can be bad so we’ll probably keep the driving to a minimum, but I will still hopefully see some areas and go do some fun things around there. I’m looking forward to my first time in LA.
“It’s hard to say what the expectations are for Long Beach. It’s a relatively short track and we really just want to make sure the basics are right and that we are going in there with a good approach to the weekend. Again, it’s a track that I have never seen before so we will do a lot of laps in FP1 to build that experience that we’re looking for and then hopefully we’ll get off to a good start and take it from there. I think the pace has been good. The team has done an amazing job in all circumstances so far. On my side, the performance probably lacks a little behind but not in terms of the performance from the car but in terms of having a little bit of luck. I’m just excited to hopefully be able to have a good weekend finally; I think that’s what the 47 team needs at the moment.”

i2c Named Official Payment Processing Partner of RLL and Associate Sponsor of Rahal’s INDYCAR Entry in 2026

ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (April 15, 2026) – Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that i2c Inc., a global financial technology innovator powering banking and payments for institutions worldwide, will serve as the Official Payment Processing Partner of RLL and a full-season associate sponsor of Graham Rahal’s No. 15 NTT INDYCAR SERIES entry in 2026 beginning with the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, April 17-19.

“i2c processes billions of transactions worldwide on a single global platform—with zero downtime, zero compromise,” said Amir Wain, founder and CEO of i2c. “That’s the standard we set every day, and it’s the same standard RLL brings to the track every race weekend. INDYCAR rewards the team with the strongest infrastructure behind it, and that’s exactly the business we’re in. We’re proud to stand alongside Bobby, Graham, and the entire RLL organization.”

The partnership marks i2c’s debut in the INDYCAR SERIES. The i2c logo will appear on the engine cover and cockpit of Rahal’s Honda-powered race car as well as on his driver’s suit, with additional branding on the trackside fuel rig and all team transporters.

“i2c Inc. has built a reputation as a global leader in financial technology by combining innovation with reliability—two things that are absolutely critical in INDYCAR racing as well,” said Bobby Rahal, co-owner of RLL with David Letterman and Mike Lanigan. “Their ability to unify complex systems into a single, high-performance platform mirrors what we strive to do on the track every race weekend. We’re excited to work alongside a company like i2c that relies on precision, adaptability, and trust like we do.”

The 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season resumes with the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach on Sunday, April 19. Live coverage of the race begins at 5:30 p.m. ET on FOX, FOX Deportes, FOX One and the FOX Sports app. The 18-race schedule includes new venues in Arlington, Texas, Markham, Ontario, Canada and Washington, D.C.
