RAHAL FINISHED NINTH IN THE HONDA INDY TORONTO; MAINTAINED FIFTH PLACE RANK IN SERIES STANDINGS

GRAHAM RAHAL, No. 15 Rousseau Metal Dallara/Honda/Firestone:  “I was pleased with the car’s performance but it’s just not quick enough everywhere. We’ve just got to work on it. I think we found some things this weekend that will help us going forward but it’s just frustrating to put all the effort in that we are and to finish ninth. I feel like we deserve better than this but we’re going to keep trying hard. I was either stuck in traffic, trying to get by Sato and getting blocked or cruising behind Dixon. It was frustrating. We would have liked to get the Rousseau car further up there but that was the best we had today.”

• FAST FACTS: Rahal started 10th and finished ninth. The timing of the first full course caution on Lap 29 for James Jakes benefitted eventual winner Josef Newgarden, who made a pit stop just before the caution and was able to move up the field to run second behind Helio Castroneves, who also stayed out during the caution to gain the lead, when the rest cycled through their stops once the pits opened. Luca Filippi finished second and Castroneves, third. Was his ninth Indy car race here and 10th overall including his 2006 Atlantic race… In eight Indy car races, his best Toronto start is third in 2009 with Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing and his best finish is fifth in 2010 with Newman/Haas Racing. More detail on each start is available upon request… His best finish this season is second place at Barber and the Indy GP and best start is fifth in Detroit Race 2 which was based on Entrant Points. He qualified sixth in Texas. He has a total of three podium finishes this season with a third place at Detroit Race 2… Of the seven road and street races so far this season, Rahal has run in the top-five in all but two and has finished on the podium in three of the past four… Rahal is ranked fifth in series point standings with a total of 283. He trails fourth place Castroneves by 39 (322), third place Scott Dixon by 46 points (329), and second place Will Power by 66 (349) after Round 10 of 16.

NEXT UP: After 10 weeks of consecutive on-track action, the series will take a well-deserved weekend off before returning for the MAVTV 500 on June 27 at Auto Club Speedway.
