Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing
Java House Grand Prix of Arlington
NTT INDYCAR SERIES
RACE NOTES / QUOTES – March 15, 2026
Foster Finished 13th in the Inaugural Java House Grand Prix of Arlington; Rahal was 18th and Schumacher 22nd
GRAHAM RAHAL, No. 15 Mobil 1 Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “Honestly, I thought we were on for a better day than that just by who we were running with. We ran with (Scott) McLaughlin a lot and then (Josef) Newgarden a lot. Obviously, strategies were different, but Scotty finished further forward in 11th and Josef finished toward the back and that’s not really what you expect from the Penske’s and honestly, I thought we were on for a much better day because of our pace. And in the end, it wasn’t meant to be. I’m not sure what we did wrong, if it was our strategy. We should have tried to stretch the stints. Like St. Pete, we weren’t good enough on the alternate tires. At the end of the stint, the rear really went off under braking. We’ve got some work to do. We were banking on yellow’s and the yellows never really happened which was part of it.”
FAST FACTS: The No. 15 Mobil 1 team set the fastest cumulative time in the pits and moved from third to first in the Fastest Pit Crew standings after three races. In the race, Rahal started 24th and cycled up in the running order between four pit stops but the caution the team was hoping never came out in the 70-lap race that saw two cautions, but they were only one lap each. Rahal ultimately finished 18th… The third-generation race car driver won at the Texas Motor Speedway oval in 2016. The originally scheduled June 11, 2016, and then June 12 Firestone 600 was postponed to August 27 due to rain. Once the race resumed, Rahal emerged victorious with a dramatic, last lap pass to win in the closest finish in TMS history — a mere 0.0080-seconds ahead of James Hinchcliffe.
LOUIS FOSTER, No. 45 Droplight Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “We did a good job optimizing the first couple of stints. The first stint on reds (alternate tires) could have been a little bit better. The second red stint was really good, and I think, generally, I’m pretty happy with our performance as a team. I think we made one small error at the end with our pit stop where I thought we were supposed to come in but the team wasn’t ready for me so obviously there was miscommunication there and that hurt us quite a lot. I would say it cost us probably three spots, which was annoying. All in all, it was a decent points day. I definitely felt like I left a lot on the table with that last pit stop though.”
FAST FACTS: Started 13th and cycled as high as third between pit stops and ultimately finished 13th after a delayed final stop when the team wasn’t ready for Louis when he pitted earlier than they expected…. The 2024 INDY NXT Champion earned the 2025 Rookie of the Year honors last year and is in the midst of his sophomore season in 2026. He has earned one INDYCAR POLE (Road America 2025) and his highest finish is ninth place in St. Pete 2026.
MICK SCHUMACHER, No. 47 ENVE Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “It wasn’t a great race for us obviously. I have to look at the video but from inside the car, the way it felt was that Lundgaard tried to go to the outside and then cut back and I kind of went for the inside there and I locked up the brakes and then that’s when we hit each other. But I have to look at the video so I’m not 100 percent sure. I guess the biggest time loss came from the spin with Newgarden and it just felt weird because, to me, it looked like he came back at me and obviously I was firing into the corner and he kind of blended in with the dark shadow so it was hard to spot him but that was just part of a stupid race. We had pace but we just couldn’t do anything with it. For us I think it’s important to understand what happened this weekend, why we couldn’t do the pace that some of the top guys were doing. And see how we can get a better qualifying car but also a better race car. That is what is important to us. Obviously, Barber is going to be a good spot for that and we as a team have good experience and know where to start. Road courses seem like they are strong for us so hopefully we’ll be able to work with that.”
FAST FACTS: Started 17th and was given a drive through penalty for “avoidable contact” with Lundgaard on Lap 2, which he served on Lap 5 of 70. The penalty dropped him to 22nd place. Later, he and Newgarden made contact in the exit of Turn 2 on Lap 40 after Newgarden came out of the pits. He gained two positions at the end of the race when Siegel and Grosjean made contact on the final lap and he finished in 22nd place. Earned his top series start of fourth place last weekend in his oval racing debut at Phoenix as well as his top finish to date of 18th place. He was running in 11th place when his outside front tire changer’s wheel gun malfunctioned on the first of three pit stops, which dropped him to 22nd. The Swiss-born son of legendary seven-time Formula One champion, Michael Schumacher, brings with him an impressive resume that includes 43 Formula One starts and a best finish of sixth place, along with three podiums in WEC competition, where he competed in 2024 and 2025 for Alpine.
NEXT UP: The series will take next weekend off before reconvening at Barber Motorsports Park for the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix, March 27-29.
