FOSTER FINISHED 14TH IN THE FARM TO FINISH 275 POWERED BY SUKUP AT IOWA SPEEDWAY; RAHAL WAS 19TH AND DEFRANCESCO 25TH
GRAHAM RAHAL, No. 15 One Cure Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “It was a tougher day today than yesterday for sure. We were okay the first two stints, maybe three, but then, on that third and fourth stint, the car got massively loose and completely disconnected, unfortunately which is the opposite of yesterday, where we were kind of really good at the end. Today was kind of the opposite path, unfortunately.”
- FAST FACTS: He started 10th and struggled with the handling of the rear of the race car. The team attempted to make changes on the pit stops and he ultimately took the checkered flag in 19th place. In Race 2, he started 14th and held his ground through the stints. On Lap 234/275, he moved into the top 10 before his third stop. Once the field cycled through stops he returned to the top-10. At 5:57 p.m. CT, the red flag came out after 259/275 laps were completed to repair the SAFER barrier, which was damaged when Siegel crashed. Cars restarted and resumed green flag conditions with 14 laps to go. Rahal was 10th and lost a position to Dixon on the restart and took the checkered flag in 11th place… This marked Rahal’s 21st and 22nd races here. He has earned 12 top-10 finishes in 22 starts with his best being third in Race 2 in 2020. A complete list of results are available… Has SIX IndyCar Series wins (2008 – St. Pete street course; 2015 – Fontana Super Speedway, Mid-Ohio road course; 2016 – Texas Super Speedway; 2017 Detroit Race 1, Detroit Race 2) and FIVE poles (2009 – St. Pete street course, Kansas oval; 2017 – Detroit Race 1 street; IMS (road) 2023 August, Portland (road) 2023) and his highest series season-ending standing is fourth place in 2015… He is 19th in the point standings with a total of 169 points.
DEVLIN DEFRANCESCO, No. 30 Luther Automotive Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “We were just extremely loose from the word go. I was saving it through Turn 1, and I went right on the weight jacker in Turn 3, and we just lost it. For sure, I think there’s something amiss because that was not normal. Unfortunately, we had a hybrid issue this morning and the boys did a great job getting the car ready after it was split in half (to make the change), but unfortunately our cross weight seemed to be super high going back out, and we were honestly just a passenger. It was snapping loose from the start, and there was no saving it.”
- FAST FACTS: He started 23rd and lost control of his race car on the start and hit the wall and subsequently retired in 25th place after it was determined it would take too long to finish the race car and return to the track.… DeFrancesco previously raced here four times with a best start of 12th in Race 1 in 2023 and best finish of 15th in Race 2 of 2022 – both with Andretti Steinbrenner Racing. He is 25th in series standings with 115 points.
LOUIS FOSTER, No. 45 Droplight Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “I’ll take a P14. We got lucky with the yellow for sure, right? Positives are we walk out of here with a good amount of points and we’re taking a lot of points off competitors so all in all, it was a good weekend. We’ve got work to do on the balance of the car to try to understand why we struggled so much today on pace. But sometimes you get unlucky, sometimes you get lucky, and today we got lucky.”
- FAST FACTS: He started 16th and finished in 14th and on the lead lap after getting the wave around three times. In Race 2, he started 12th and ran in that area for the majority of the race. He struggled on one stint but the team made aero changes on a stop and he regained some ground and eventually finished 14th in his INDYCAR debut race here… He is 22nd in series point standings with 150. Fellow rookie, Robert Schwartzman, closed to within five points in the Rookie of the Year standings after a ninth-place finish and total of 145.
NEXT UP: The Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto will take place next weekend and be televised live at 11 AM ET on FOX. Toronto native Devlin DeFrancesco returns to competition in his home race after a year away and will drive the No. 30 HUB International Honda.
