NEWS & NOTES:
RAHAL LETTERMAN LANIGAN RACING IN ARLINGTON
The 2026 Jave House Grand Prix of Arlington will mark the inaugural race for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES here. The team has entered the No. 15 Mobil 1 Honda for Graham Rahal, the No. 45 Droplight Honda for Louis Foster and the No. 47 ENVE Honda for Mick Schumacher for the race.
GRAHAM ON THE EXCITEMENT FOR THE INAUGURAL EVENT IN ARLINGTON
Like all other drivers, the event will mark Rahal’s first time to race in Arlington, but the third-generation race car driver has a win in Texas after having taken the checkered flag first at Texas Motor Speedway in 2016. The originally scheduled June 11, and then June 12 Firestone 600 was postponed to August 27 due to rain. Once the race resumed, Rahal emerged victorious with a dramatic, last lap pass to win in the closest finish in TMS history — a mere 0.0080-seconds ahead of James Hinchcliffe. A major sports fan – and particularly of football – Rahal is looking forward to racing around the home fields of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
‘New track, new venue, new place! I’m looking forward to that as I always am any time we get to go to a new track. INDYCAR, the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers have created an amazing event that people have been talking about for a long time and its exciting that we’re finally days away. I’m driving the Mobil 1 car this weekend and it’s going to look great there!”
FOSTER ON WHAT HE HOPES WILL BECOME AN INDYCAR STAPLE
Foster earned the highest start for the team in the St. Pete opener of ninth place. The team’s pit and tire strategy had been working well enough to have Foster led two times for two laps between stops but the timing of a caution was more beneficial for other drivers and he ultimately finished 14th. He is looking forward to the return to a street course to continue the momentum after strong pace in qualifying and the race in St. Pete.
“I’m really looking forward to racing in Arlington. It’s going to be an awesome event; there has been a lot of work put into it and hopefully it becomes one of INDYCAR’s staple events. I enjoy going to new circuits; it kind of evens the playing field for everyone which means there is more opportunity for us to do well. So, I think it will be a good weekend. I’ve been on the simulator but it’s tricky to compare it to any of our other layouts. It is its own beast really. I can’t wait to get there and check it out.”
SCHUMACHER’S HOME RACE OF SORTS
The Arlington, Texas event is the closest German driver Mick Schumacher will come to having a “home race” in the INDYCAR SERIES as his family has a ranch north of the Dallas Fort Worth area. The 26-year-old surprised many last weekend by earning a fourth-place qualifying spot for his oval debut at Phoenix. He was running a strong first oval race until an air gun failed on his first of three pit stops while running 11th which dropped him to 22nd and he ultimately finished 18th. After being collected in a Lap 1, Turn 4 accident in St. Pete when he had nowhere to go to avoid the cars of Robb and Ferrucci, he is looking forward tohis first complete INDYCAR race on a street course.
“I’ve done a simulator session for the Arlington race. Obviously, it is very raw because the data is very limited for this track. Overall, we are excited for it as a team. We’re looking forward to it as an opportunity to kind of have level ground with everybody else. It’s great that it is close to home.”
THIRD PLACE RANK IN THE FIRESTONE PIT STOP STANDINGS
The No. 15 crew was the second fastest team in the pits in Phoenix and is ranked third overall for the season. The No. 45 crew is also in the top-10 and is ranked in ninth place.
