NEWS & NOTES:
AUSTIN DYNE REWIND ON ROUNDS 8 & 9 IN ATLANTIC CITY
“Atlantic City was a tough weekend. We didn’t start out too strong off the truck but we made a lot of changes and got the car pretty good. It was a hard track to get the car good everywhere. In the heats we had really good pace but in the finals we seemed to have a black cloud follow us with zero luck.”
AUSTIN ON LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS RACE ALL YEAR AND EXPECTATIONS FOR 2017
“This is one of the events we had circled from the beginning of the year. Normally it rains which seems to suit me a lot but this year it looks dry. It was the first race I worked with my current Chassis Engineer Clement which has turned out to become a very good partnership between us both. We were really fast here last year but got wrecked out in Turn 1 of the start.”
REVISED COURSE DETAILS
Evergreen Speedway will play host to Red Bull Global Rallycross Seattle for the second time, hosting a doubleheader that serves as the penultimate event of the season for the Supercar and GRC Lites classes. The second-year event will feature a revised course layout that blends key elements of last year’s course with a new jump and Joker Lap. As with last season, drivers will charge down the front stretch at the start of each heat, accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour into Turn 1 in 1.9 seconds. After reaching the oval backstretch, drivers will make a hard left into the dirt, followed by another left into a sweeping right-hander. New for 2017, drivers will then make a right-hand hairpin turn to hit the series-signature 70-foot jump, before exiting the dirt and taking the paved Turns 6 and 7 to return to the front stretch. The paved Joker Lap will see drivers break off at the hairpin, taking the longer route that served as the main course in 2016. With the longer Joker, look for the leaders to save the alternate route for the last possible second while trying to extend their gap on the field.
AUSTIN ON THE COURSE
“I really like this track it’s a lot of fun with oval section and a proper gravel section with thick gravel. The goal is the podium here. We have been really close this year.”
AUSTIN ON THE CHALLENGES OF DOUBLEHEADERS OVERALL AND SPECIFICALLY IN SEATTLE
“I always like keeping the car in one piece. This track is probably one of the harder ones when it comes to that category based on last year.”
