SELLERS AND LEGGE FINISHED THIRD AND SIXTH IN THE JAGUAR I-PACE eTROPHY DEBUT AT THE AD DIRIYAH E-PRIX; QUALIFYING WAS CANCELLED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN
KATHERINE LEGGE, No. 3 Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY entry: “It was a shame that we didn’t get to qualifying because I really think our grid position hurt our ability to get a better result. We had the fastest lap which is all we could do at that point after being held up in the middle by a disabled car. Obviously the weather conditions dictated qualifying so it was unlucky in a way but it was also my fault for brushing the wall yesterday. I think we have the pace to be on the podium but obviously minimizing mistakes is going to be key.”
BRYAN SELLERS, No. 6 Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY entry: “I think it was a really good race in the grand scheme of things. I think we had a really good car and I feel like if I could have passed Simon for the lead, we would have had an opportunity to stretch the lead a little bit but that’s the way it goes. It’s not always easy to pass and he was doing a good job in the right places so I couldn’t. I made a little bit of a race strategy error and was the reason I got passed. Simon had a little bit of a bobble and I tried to position myself to set him up (to pass) and in doing so I kind of left the door open for Sergio and I didn’t really expect the move to come there, and in that point in time, but it was very heads-up on his part, and a very smart and clean move unfortunately. I think it’s all new to everybody. You live and learn and now I know that trying to set Simon up in that position wasn’t exactly the right thing to do. It was a shame to lose a position because of it but at the end of the day you walk away with a podium out of it in the first race and important points for the championship. It’s going to be up and down like that. There are a lot of good cars out here. I’m looking forward to Mexico City.”
NEXT UP: Round 2 of 10 in the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY will take place in Monterrey, Mexico on February 16, 2019.
