CARB DAY NOTES/QUOTES – May 23, 2014
SERVIA AND RAHAL TURN FINAL LAPS ON CARB DAY BEFORE THE 86TH RUNNING OF THE INDIANAPOLIS 500
1) Tony Kanaan 227.838 mph 46 laps
24) Oriol Servia 223.677 mph 49 laps
31) Graham Rahal 222.400 mph 42 laps
GRAHAM RAHAL, No. 15 National Guard Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “We have had better days. We’ve got a little work to do to improve. We’ve got to find some speed, and, most importantly some grip for our National Guard car. We have one more session left and that is the race. It was challenging to drive the car in traffic. Even if we got the balance right, we couldn’t really tow up enough on others so we definitely have to find some speed.”
ORIOL SERVIA, No. 16 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “It was a good session. We tried quite a different approach to the setup and we hoped that what ever we tried would come out exactly right but it still takes some tuning and an hour goes very fast after you have been here for days and days and you have to tune the car in an hour. But I think we are on to something and I am very confident that our engineers will fine tune what we learned and we will have a good car. I feel we made a good step towards having a good race car.”
