ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (May 6, 2024) – Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that the team has entered into a technical partnership with Integrated Machinery Systems (IMS), a family-owned business that has provided quality machine tools to the Indiana and Illinois markets for over 45 years. As part of the newly formed partnership, IMS will be providing Markforged 3D printing technology for the team’s use at their state-of-the art headquarters in Zionsville.
“For the last seven years, Integrated Machinery Systems has had a front row seat to the growth of additive manufacturing from cottage technology to a driving force in industry,” said Adam Homan, Sales Engineer for Integrated Machinery Systems. “Today’s manufacturers need parts faster, cheaper, lighter, with less human intervention and racing is no different. This is why Markforged 3D printing technology is a perfect match for teams like RLL. The ability to print strong, lightweight, continuous strand carbon fiber parts will help RLL compete on the track just like it helps manufacturers compete in the marketplace. Having lived in Indy for the past 22 years, I’m excited to work with the RLL engineering team as they compete in the Indianapolis 500 and beyond.”
“We are excited to partner with Integrated Machinery Systems and Markforged on this innovative program,” added Bobby Rahal, team co-owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. “Markforged is an industry leader in 3D printing technology and the team is eager to put these new capabilities to work right away. Like many other industries, motorsports is constantly changing and having the ability to quickly prototype new parts is critical in such a fast-paced and demanding environment.”
