GRAHAM RAHAL, No. 15 JJ Curran Crane Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “I feel pretty good with a fifth-place qualifying position, even with the grid penalty. The car has been shockingly good this weekend, and I say that because we’ve struggled at this track and what the boys have brought here is way more forgiving and a car that I can attack with. And that doesn’t even compare with what we’ve had here before, so I’m pleased with it. I feel like we’re getting better and are a team on the rise. I feel like this is a sign this weekend because Louis and I, and Dev also have been quite fast here. We didn’t have a new set of (Firestone) reds to battle with like most of the guys in the Fast Six but that’s okay; it’s a good sign overall. I honestly feel like we have a car that I can attack with so I like that, particularly in the race if you’ve got to get your elbows out and be a little aggressive. I feel like I can, and that the JJ Curran Crane car gives me a little window of opportunity.”
DEVLIN DEFRANCESCO, EVTEC Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “The morning practice went well but it just didn’t translate to qualifying. We clearly were not very good. I haven’t really been able to be as good on power down and getting off the corners as Gaham all weekend and it’s been that way from Practice 1 We’ve got to keep working on that and hope to be better tomorrow.”
LOUIS FOSTER, No. 45 Mi-Jack Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “I feel good with that result. The Mi-Jack car felt really good. I knew what the transfer time was going to be, and I knew it was going to be low compared to what we were doing in practice. And the car felt good, and that’s the most frustrating part for me. We were so close, but we just didn’t have the raw pace to improve on that. Graham put in an amazing time so I’m definitely going to check his data and see what he did and see how we can tune the car up. We just missed it, it was close. I think that even if we did transfer then honestly we didn’t have a lot more. I maximized the lap but for my first time here in an INDYCAR to be rolling off where I am, I’m pretty happy with that.”
RAHAL LETTERMAN LANIGAN RACING AT DETROIT: The 2025 event will mark the 25th year for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) to compete in Detroit after 22 years of competition at the Raceway at Belle Isle Park. It is the team’s 34th race here. The team’s highest start of pole came in 2017 with Graham Rahal earning his first pole since 2009 in Race 1. Bobby and Graham Rahal have earned a combined total of three wins for the team here. Bobby won the inaugural race on Belle Isle in 1992 and Graham is the only driver to have won both races on the same weekend, which he did in 2017. In total, the team has earned eight podiums (2nd – G. Rahal 2014, Jakes 2013 & Max Papis 2000), (3rd – G. Rahal 2015, Takuma Sato 2019) 12 top-five finishes and 24 top-10’s here (chart available).
